Moana Ngarimu Monday

Good evening,

It's good to be back!

In case you are wondering, those who come to R2 for reading did not get a reading text to take home today. I took the opportunity of not having enough time to organize the week since getting back at 8 o'clock Saturday night, and the fact that Sunday was Mother's Day, so I thought it would be bad form to skive off to work, to have the R2 Readers practice making photo books with the camera. I'll post the results once I've marked them up. Later.

So, on with the day. We had a plethora of adults in the room for writing, as I was being observed (part of our Professional Development as a staff), which threw out our usual morning routines. But at least we got to sing Bad Bold Pirates outside afterwards...

...before making our way back to the room.

This afternoon we learnt about Moana-Nui-A-Kiwi Ngarimu, V.C. and how and where he won his Victoria Cross.

Then we re-enacted the engagement.

Here are a couple of contemporary videos that commemorated his award.

We will be revisiting this again later in the week.

As for tomorrow, it's business as usual. The children will be in their fitness gear all day.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Oh yes, and feel free to come along to Room 1's official opening at 0915 tomorrow. It'll probably take about 20 or so minutes. You could stick around to help with writing afterwards, if you like! :-)
