Friday Fun Day...Again...

Good afternoon,

Or should I say wet afternoon, 'cause boy it is. Well, compared to the weather we have been having over the last couple of weeks.

Before the rain set in, we played some Target Practice Maths...



The idea is that two been bags are thrown onto a target, the numbers landed upon are added up, and the sums are written on the court.

The rest of the morning was spent making signs that would protect our Special Place.


Then, after lunch...

Thank you for the food we eat,

Thank you for the birds that sing-a-ling-a-ling,

...we watched a bit of Vege Tales...


...and then had some free time.

Towards the end of Developmental Time I had this brilliant idea to get those who wanted to to sit in a circle and have the rats run around within the circle. I had read that that is what a Year 5 class does at the end of the day, so I thought, "Why not?"

Turns out that rats can find the smallest gaps and scoot straight through within seconds of being put on the floor!

So, after a couple of minutes fishing them out from the top of the second cage (under the big cage), primarily by convincing Rattie to follow Rat into the cage itself, I brought the cage, with rats, into the circle instead!


Ha!

They're off visiting Eliza for the weekend, so they'll enjoy that. So long as Henry plays nice with them! Woof woof! :-)

Good afternoon,

Well, we've had our first wet day here in Room 2. They enjoyed a little Vege Tales over lunch...



...which had also meant that fitness was in the hall, Jump Jam style.


Also due to the weather, at least partly, we had one of our few indoor Topic lessons, this time discussing our Special Places that we had identified yesterday.





Unfortunately, it was all very rushed, so much so that I forgot to hand out the school newsletters at the end of the day. Sorry. They'll go home tomorrow.

Woozy Wednesday

Good evening,

Feeling a little...unwell (migraine) at the moment, so this'll have to be quick!

During reading this morning Green Group read Monkey's Friends to us.


Well done!

After lunch the Year 1s discussed how to look after God's Creation...


...and then we went outside to photograph it. I'll turn the photos into a book shortly.

Then after handwriting we all talked about special places around the school...




...and I thought I indicated who liked where on a photo of the school grounds. Or so I thought. What I actually saved was this...


Ah well, never mind. Just imagine this photo in the background...


...and work it out from there. The rats were partly responsible for the number of children who chose Room 2 as their special place. Me too, for that matter. All 22 of them! :-)

Not sure if I'll be in in the morning, depends on how my head is. At least the rats have got a nice clean bed...

Tuesday Rat Day

Good afternoon,

Well, there was much excitement this morning as the class welcomed our new class members...

And quite frankly, I think they've had a big day. I'm no rat expert, but they look exhausted!


Earlier in the day we continued to build our stamina for the cross country...


Now you see them...


...now you don't.


After lunch we were back outside for some more small ball skills.


I think that's about it. I'm pretty sure the boys can't get through the bars of the cage...but I won't know 'till I greet them in the morning!

Manic Monday

Good afternoon,

After this mornings's fitness session...


...we carried on with our day.

This afternoon's R.E. lesson, as well as being a reminder that...

God made all living things.

...Rooms the Year 1s from Rooms 1, 2 and 3 discussed how to look after God's creation.



Then Room 1 went back to Room 1, and Rooms 2 and 3 mimed how the would look after God's Creation.


The rest of the afternoon was spent outside looking for different shapes in our environment. Specifically, circles, triangles, rectangles and ovals. Which, in the end, drove us to the wall (!).


Eliza has brought in a portable rat cage, so Rat and Rattie will be here in waiting for the children in the morning. Hmmm, how am I going to manage this...right children keep your hands away from the cage.
