Well, I spent the day catching up with, well, my tail really (!), but from what I saw, Room 2 had a jolly good day.

First with an activity to identify parts of our school...

Thingame Thursday

Good afternoon,

So good in fact that we ditched topic...

It's a lovely day for a swim!

Come in, the water's lovely!

Prior to this the Year 1's had their R.E. lesson. If you recall, yesterday we collected natural bits and pieces with which to make pictures. Well, today we made pictures out of God's creation...




All things considered, another good day was had by all.

I'm on CRT tomorrow, so I'll be here, but I won't be here. Mrs Stringer will be running the show in my stead.

I got hold of my mother-in-law's reports for standards 1, 2 and 3 - which, as near as I can figure it, is Year 3, 4 and 5 respectively.


Ah, the 1940s were a simpler time. You know, apart from the horrific slaughter and monstrous atrocities being carried out at the time...

Wuverly Wednesday

Good afternoon,

Another busy day was had here in Room 2. (I'm sure I've opened with that phrase before, I really must widen my lexicon...)

Anyroadup, we had our usual morning maths, writing and fitness...


After lunch the Year 1's spent, well, nearly all of the afternoon outside, first on a mission to collect natural bits and pieces for a creation picture...



...and then with the rest of Room 2 to finish our OLA Environment Alphabet Hunt. Of which I took lots and lots of photos, too many in fact...well, I suppose I could make a slideshow out of them...


You would have all received tonight's e-mail about the rats (they may be here Friday...then again, they may not!), please let me know if you've got any questions.

(Richard and Myrna, your I must have copied your address down wrong - I'll catch up with you in the morning).

I think that's it.

Oh yeah, and we've blown another data projector bulb through dust collecting around the bulb itself. It seems to be getting in via a secondary path, by-passing the fan filter. Thankfully we've got the use of the old projector while our regular ICT companion gets fixed up. Again. (Sorry Jo!) ICT ay?

Still, when (or if!) we get an interactive board in Room 2 the dust-blowing-the-bulb problem will be no more. The projector will be board mounted (ya hoo - an ultra short throw projector - they cast practically no shadows at all! Horribly expensive though...), so it should be out of the way of falling dust...

Right, best I get away.

Toothy Tuesday

Good afternoon,

And another fun, if slightly more disrupted day was had by all in Room 2.

Just as we were about to head back to class after morning tea, the burglar alarm was tripped (Room 1 was being wired up at the time), so we lined up for the first of two (and a bit) fire drills within the space of an hour.
Ok, false alarm, so back in for phonics, then out again for fitness...


...(running along Wyn St today - note: we are finessing in our Reading Interchange classes, not our, well, Class classes...), when the fire alarm went off, so we trotted back to school for a head count, then back out, then back to class, then out again for another false alarm before White Group got together to perform their play from yesterday.

Things settled down after lunch with some J Team singing in Room 2 where we learned/practiced a new song - Wobbly Tooth! It was lots of fun!)...

Then it was out for our first P.E. lesson of the year. We are learning small ball skills. This afternoon we just practiced rolling it to a partner from ever increasing distances, and throwing and catching by ourselves.


And that was about it.

Good afternoon,

Another busy day was had here in Room 2. We started with maths...


...some fitness after phonics but before reading, and so only with those who come to Room 2 for reading...


...where Red Group annotated their photos that they took on Thursday to create our newest photo book Noises.

After lunch and R.E....


...we went outside into our school environment for an alphabet hunt.






We found fun!
And I think that was about it.

Now I've really got to do something else. Might visit me some rats this evening...

Rats! Update

Not tomorrow!

I'm still working through the details.

I've figured out what to feed them and where to get the feed from, and what to scatter on their cage floor.

It's just a question of getting round to see the two I've got my eye on, a secondary cage (assuming they can't get through the gaps in the cage in Room 2), and some sort of play pen so's we can have them out and about at various times during the day.

But we're getting there. (Thanks Hon!)
