The Mouse's Tail

Good afternoon,

Again,

Here, hot of the press, is this year's White Reading Group's first photo book The Mouse's Tail. This is all their own work (an independent follow up reading activity while I'm taking other reading groups). Cool, eh?!

Treaty Friday

Good afternoon,

And a good afternoon it was. Just before lunch, Room 2 had their Room 2 Treaty signing...

...before having a shared lunch.

Prior to that, we played a new maths game called target practice, where the children had to throw a couple of bean bags onto a couple of targets, add up the sum, then run off and write it down on the asphalt in front of them.

Then we discussed what to do in emergencies, specifically during fire drills (which, coincidently we started the day with!), and earthquakes.

Our day was rounded off with a dip in the pool...

...and a little more of Brave Mama Puss.

All in all it was a great end to a fantastic week.

Have a good weekend,

Mr Grant

Laser Lights

Good evening,

You know that laser light pointer that I use during writing lessons to point to particular words in the modeled piece of writing that's being projected on the board while I'm helping the children at their desks?

Well, there is another use for them...

Max

Jesse

(They are available from a little knick knack shop that's just inside the north door of Barrinton Mall. But be warned - the batteries don't last long. Kelsy's been using one pretty much non stop as you see above for about...well, I brought two last night on the way home from school, and one's just gone flat now!)

Finally...Some Warm Weather!

Good afternoon,

And what a glorious afternoon it is. The pool was lovely...

(...but some of the children still turned blue!)

Earlier in the day we had another couple of ordering relays, first ordering forward, and then retrieving the number cards in reverse order.

We also had another session on sorting out and learning some rules and responsibility.

To that end, we started to learn our Room 2 Rulz song.

CU in the morning, and hopefully for our Treaty Signing here at school at about 12:15 tomorrow afternoon.

Wednesday's Tuesday

Good afternoon,

Well, we've been at school for two days now, right? It must be Tuesday! Oh, hang on...

But I digress. We started the day with a similar activity as yesterday - ordering relays.

Then some literacy...

...and some swimming...

...before our serial story Brave Mama Puss...

...and a discussion about responsibility...

...and what it would look like in Room 2.

Thursday's Wednesday will be along tomorrow.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

And Away We Go!

Good afternoon,

And what a lovely day it has been.

We started with a maths ordering relay, where upon I found that I needed to change the batteries in the camera!

Oh well, back inside we went for our first class photo...

...and a wee message to my daughter, who turns 13 today...

Then on with some maths, some Topic, some Values Education (what it means to be responsible), and into the pool for a quick dip.

Which reminds me to remind you that we are swimming every day for the next three or four weeks. Which means no fitness or P.E. - sport uniforms can stay home 'till the weather cools.

(By the way, if you missed picking up a paper copy of the newsletter that I forgot to give out until it was mostly too late, pick one up from the wall in the morning.)

Think that's about it.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Newsletter for Term 1 Week 1

Good evening,

Hot of the press, here is the Room 2 newsletter for Term 1, Week 1. A paper copy will be going out tomorrow.

(For those who were using Room 3's blog last year, the password for the encrypted files is the same - thing...green and cuddly...)

CU in the morning,

Mr Grant
