Performing Arts Friday
Good afternoon,
Another week down, another fun-but-less-than-routine Friday had here in Room 2.
We spent most of the morning sorting out what to do for this afternoon's assembly (time well spent, as it turned out - the children knew exactly what they were doing, when and where during the event. Brilliant!).
Just before lunch OLA's Jump Jam Teams presented their routines to the whole school.
Then, after a bit of panicked preparation, Room 2 hosted the whole school assembly.
(I really should have turned on the lights for Selina. Sorry!)
They did really well.
Right, for the disco. 1730 (5:30 p.m for you non military types) to 1900 (7:00 p.m.)

Pedometers
Don't forget 'em.
We've done 378km so far, we've just got to keep going!
If anyone is missing theirs, please let me know - I'll grab a bunch from the office in the morning.

Thursday Sing Day
Good afternoon,
Room 2 was shown up (in the first instance at least) by Room 3 this afternoon. During J Team singing, I had Room 3 stand up and perform Galoop for the rest of us.
They sang very well indeed.
So the challenge was on. Room 2 got up to sing...
...and, I am afraid to say, were not up for it!
They then went outside, said ta ta...
...and proceeded to learn some rugby skills from Mrs McDowell, while I took Room 1 for soccer.
Earlier in the day Blue Reading Group performed a perennial favourite, Pussy Cat Pussy Cat
Red Group also finished their latest photo book The Photo Book - a simple story, but quite a sophisticated piece that required a photo book first, to which the children could point.
And a good time was had by all.
Tomorrow we're on assembly. I have just learnt that the whole affair will be dominated by Jump Jam demonstrations, so our role will be purely structural, starting at 12:00 instead of 13:30. But we will be performing alongside Room 1 for their assembly next week.

Wonderful Wednesday
Good afternoon,
And a lovely afternoon it is. We were all getting a little sick of the constant water falling from the heavens...
Speaking of Heaven, this afternoon's R.E. lesson was on the Holy Spirit being a little like the wind. We can't see Him, but we can sometimes feel Him, and see Him in action in other people, and ourselves, in what we do. So first up we read The Wild Wet Wellington Wind, and then we went outside to see if we could actually see the wind.
Then we came inside, discussed Him a little more, and said a short prayer.
We finished the day with a little more Inquiry work, finding some answers to one of our smaller questions. We went here to read, and then try to understand the NZDF (and hence, the Army) Mission Statement.
(That last phrase is a little harder to break down...)
So we ended up with this...
Right, best be getting through this pile of paper work. You lot sure you don't just want "They're doing fine" on all of your children's reports? :-)

We managed a little writing...
...and maths, with the literacy interchange children - games being the order of the day...
...some Reading and R.E....
...and a bit of revision of how to break our Big Question down in to a couple of Little Questions.
For which we will Locate some infor mation tomorrow.
Bye for now, I think I have to have words with the boys about playing nicely. How can you tell if a rat is play fighting, or getting aggressive? I guess it's whether or not they're using their teeth. At the moment they're both sitting up on their hind legs 'boxing' each other!
