Friday Oppsies

Good afternoon,

As the more observant in Room 2 will tell you, we didn't run assembly today! It was Room 3's turn. Sorry for the confusion, I got my weeks mixed up. We're next week.

Still, we had a pretty full day anyway.

Some housekeeping, a game of Do This, Do That...

...and then Mrs O came in to show me how to run an R.E. lesson proper, like.

Some more ICT was conducted after morning tea, where the children started to import some of their Fairy Tale photos into Comic Life.

This will take a while to finish, seeing as we've only got Fridays to complete it.

After the NetBooks were shut down, Room 4 came over for our first session of Buddy Reading.

The whole thing was a very positive experience for all involved and will be happening again each Friday, just after 12:00.

Oh, and one last thing...

Have a good weekend,

Mr Grant

It's Not Raining...

Good afternoon.

Room 2 Readers got to Jump Jam a little late this morning, and came in towards the middle of this song here.

Seeing as the day cleared up as it progressed, Room 2 went outside during Topic Time to identify the clouds they could see.

For those of you at home, the three principal cloud formations are...

Stratus (three, four), Cumulus, Cirrus
Tomorrow is Black Out day. The children are to come to school wearing nothing but black (though I'm sure white sports shoes will be fine) to support the All Blacks for their Bledisloe Cup match tomorrow night. No mufti money required, we're just showing our true colours.

(I s'pose, that also means that if you're rooting for the Wallabies, you could come in Yellow and Gold...I guess...)

Tomorrow will also see another Room 2 assembly (at 1:30 p.m.). I promised a song, but I've changed my mind. We'll be teaching the rest of the school some Maori instead. I hope.

Kind regards,

Mr Grant

(And no, I haven't decided who will be MCing the assembly, nor have I organised the prayerers (or prayers)! I'll try to pull something together tonight.)

Fairy Tale Wednesday

Good afternoon,

This morning, after skipping...

...instead of our normal Reading Interchange, Room 2 trotted back to R2, got changed, paired up...

...quickly drew up a fairy tale of their own (something like this...)

(...but without the writing)

They then went outside with the new pod of cameras and acted and photographed their own stories.

After lunch we had a bit of R.E....

...before heading into the staff room for a demonstration of evaporation and condensation, which is how clouds are formed.

We ended the day with a couple of visitors...

Rock On Tuesday

Good afternoon,

After a touch of writing...

...Red Group read The School Band about, well, a school band, so they then formed their own band and performed for us.

After lunch, and a song or two, we all popped outside for some more skipping.

Things ran on a touch too long. Hence the state of the room at then end of the day.

One quick notice, there will be no reading interchange tomorrow. So, Skipping after Morning Tea, then back to our own classes to get changed, and...something that I'll figure out later!

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Oh, and one last thing...

Look To The Skies Monday

Good evening,

I arrived at work and was greeted with this...

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

Genesis 9:13 to 17
Speaking of R.E., this afternoon the Room 2 Year 1 R.E. class drew some special family times that reminded us of God.

To further that, I have asked the children to bring a photo of themselves enjoying special family times. Please dig out a photo for them for their next R.E. lesson, which will be on Wednesday afternoon.

We ended the day by looking to the skies. Again.

Which, funnily enough I also did as I was walking back from tonight's staff meeting...
